I’ve always had a passion for community service and volunteer work. From my early years as a girl scout to my two week study abroad in Tanzania, there has been this warm ball of hope in my stomach that I get when I give back. Now for the mobile social journalism course I’m taking at the Park School of Communications, I can make my passion my beat.

I’m excited to be covering upcoming service events in the Ithaca and Tompkins County area over the next few months and talking to local people in the community that are organizing creative and innovative events. I plan to cover the American Heart Association, Ithaca Welcomes Refugees, New York Special Olympics, and much more.

Since it seems like everything we hear in the news today is negative stories, I think it would be refreshing to see uplifting stories about people helping other people and addressing current issues. By highlighting other people who get warm balls of hope in their stomachs, I hope to brighten peoples news feeds with some inspiring stories about generous people.
